Candidate questions city credit card purchases

City Council candidate Jeanette Ard said she doesn't believe some city credit card expenses are in line. She called it "spending gone wild."

She's particularly concerned about such purchases as a half-dozen music CDs, routine purchases at Wal-Mart rather than from a wholesale supplier, and some $8,000 for clothes from Oshkosh and Land's End.

What Jeanette Ard believes

I believe that many city officials have made it difficult for the public and business owners to resolve even the simplest of issues.

I reject the attitude of these officials and plans to restore the respect to our city employees and citizens that they deserve.

Here are my concerns:

- Lower taxes and fees
- Efficient city government
- Financial accountability
- Economic development
- Efforts to attract more tourists and permanent residents
- Public safety
- Public health

I am starting a grassroots revolution for change. I have a proven track record for spotting opportunities and solving problems.

The city of Georgetown needs a strong, proven leader for these challenging times. Let's return our government to the people.
